On October 27th 2021, the seminar entitled “English majored students’ assessments of BA English curriculum at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA)” was presented by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy – a senior lecturer of Department of Professional English, Faculty of Education & Foreign Languages.

Curriculum is defined asan educational program which states: (a) the educational purpose of the program (the ends), (b) the content, teaching procedures and learning experiences which will be necessary to achieve this purpose (the means) and (c) some means of assessing whether or not the educational ends have achieved’ (Richards, et al., 1992, p.94). BA English curriculum (K62) of VNUA was first implemented in the academic school year 2017-2018. Accordingly, K62 English majored students completed their four-year BA English program at VNUA in 2021. It is VNUA’ regulations on quality assurance that the cycle of training program improvement is 4 years. Therefore, this study aims at finding how 303 English majors evaluated BA English program at VNUA via two research instruments such as a survey questionnaire with 25 closed questions & 2 open-ended questions and a semi-structured interview with 3 open-ended questions. The results of the study show that BA curriculum meets the stakeholders’ needs, especially the students. Most students (more than 75%) are satisfied and/or very satisfied with the curriculum regarding teaching contents, learning conditions, skills developed after completing the course & perception of VNUA. With regard to the statement “The core subjects of the major are taught with quality”, 82.18% of students felt satisfied and/or very satisfied. However, it is necessary to adjust the order of subjects in the program to be more appropriate (E.g. Presentation, which is taught in the 5th or 7th semester, should be taught in the 2rd semester. Similarly, the subject of Management needs to be changed before the subject of Human resource management and the subject of Project management because the subject of Management is the basic knowledge for the other two subjects). Moreover, in order to have a full picture of the BA English program at VNUA, it is important to review it from all stakeholders’ evaluations.
